  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

It is the processed meat that you buy at the store, not the fresh packaged products. Packages of ground beef that do not list ingredients are not processed, they do not contain anything that has been preprocessed. Same is true for other cuts of fresh beef, pork and chicken (although some chicken does list additives)

If you look at the packages of premade patties, most do list ingredients, those are the processed products that MAY include the substance discussed in the OP.

There are lots of additives in processed foods that are completely harmless, yet contribute to the appeal and nutrition of the foods. There are also many foods that appeal to certain people because they are easy to prepare and serve, but are loaded with additives that do not contribute to nutrition.

If one would only read the label, compare actual cost of the finished meal, they might make better choices.

You are absolutely right, of course. Slight problem is that not all companies put all the information on the label... especially when it concerns processes or additives that aren't too healthy.

That would constitute a serious crime. You might find it a lot less prevalent than you think.

They may rename some things, like the ammonia being listed as a processing agent, but they don't omit things.

It has diminished a lot over the last couple of years, thanks to the good work of most countries' respective food & drugs administrations, but there's still a lot of work to be done to ban all kinds of antibiotics with which live stock is being injected and which have nefarious effects on humans.

Also, a lot of so-called food-supplements, mostly used by athletes, contain things that are not mentioned on the box, resulting sometimes in some sporters testing positive for this or that hormone or other forbidden substance.

You're kinda missing the point here, though. A lot of poor people can't afford the fresh meat because processed meat is much more expensive. It's not about "making healthier choices" for a lot of poor families, it's about just being able to feed the kids.

Fresh meat is cheaper than processed meats. Ground beef sells for about $2.25/pound. Prepared beef patties sell for the equivalent of $4.95/pound.

A meatloaf that would feed eight people, with potatoes and green beans, can be prepared for less than $10.00. Dinner for eight at McDonalds will run over $40.00.

Don't tell me that buying prepared food is cheaper, because it is not.

I think one of the problems here is that most people don't have any experience at killing and butchering their own meat. If you had, and actually dealt with the different stages of decomposition represented in the slime that forms on the meat I don't think you would want to eat it.

The idea that someone is feeding it to me just flat pisses me off.

Wait until we start getting a green Jello like food, which they say is formulated to replace all of the natural nutrients found in fresh food.

Oh, but at the same time, funerals & cremations have stopped as well. And, Oh yeah, there are no more sick people, they just seem to vanish in the night.

Ammonia: Makes cat pee smell bad and hamburger taste good. Yum...

Ideologically I'd like to not eat dead animals or at least not those that are commercially slaughtered because the the industry has always had a horrible history of abuse, exploitation and filth. Realistically I'm not going to quit eating meat and butchering my own isn't an option.

I've cut way back on hamburger and try to eat smaller pieces of solid cuts instead. I used to buy a steak, for instance, and it the whole thing no matter how big it was and you can't seem to buy just a little one at the market. Now I cut what I buy into about 4 oz portions and freeze them. However like any good junkie I slip from time to time. Never did like McDs hamburgers though there is no quality difference between what the other chains sell.
